Sha-Kong Wang

Sha-Kong Wang, or H.Gordon Wang as he is known in North America, was born in China to well known artist parents. In 1983 Wang entered the Massachusetts College of Art, and later did a Masters Degree at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. For Wang, painting is a process in which the artist can interact with colour and light. Finding the traditional brushes insufficient in expressing the vitaliy of his images he turned to the pallet knife, creating impastoed surfaces which interact with the light in the environment.
